The Process From Raw to Bottled

Raw sea water (called 'brine') is drawn from the ocean through a series of vast shallow ponds. The natural action of solar evaporation at ambient temperatures reduces the water content of the brine solution and concentrates the remaining mineral salts. Evaporation is halted once the raw brine solution reaches a point just prior to saturation (technically, approximately 1210 kgm3 specific gravity). This solution is called the 'maiden' brine. The total concentration of dissolved salts in the maiden brine is approximately 36 per cent by weight, which is about 10 times the concentration of natural sea water (ie, 10 litres of sea water yields one litre of maiden brine).

Successful maiden brine production requires low rainfall for a significant part of the year because rainfall causes the solution to dilute, thereby diluting its valuable mineral content.

Cea Products gathers this mineral-rich maiden brine to utilise as a natural product. It carries all of the dissolved minerals present in sea water including suspended organic matter, algae and other biology. Maiden brine is also the raw material used in refined salt production. However, the salt industry produces most of its quota for the chemical industry and therefore refines out the valuable minerals as impurities.

Maiden brine used for Cea Ocean Mineral Superfood production is rigorously tested to ensure quality and certification. Under food safe practice procedures, the maiden brine is microfiltered to remove suspended matter and other organisms and then undergoes ozone sterilisation utilising the natural properties of O3 heavy oxygen to oxidise out any remaining contaminants without any harmful residue.

The brine water then undergoes further oxygenation/energisation through a flow-form, which is a cascading 'figure of eight' movement known as a lemniscate. This movement is one of the foundation patterns of all life and is claimed to regenerate and bring vitality back into the waters. The energised, crystal-clear maiden brine is again microfiltered and then bottled ready for use.

Being acutely aware of environmental protection and sustainable production practices, Cea Products has made the most of the technology developments in food-grade plastic handling, processing and storage equipment. As a result of the research that has gone into the role of plastics in the environment and in contact with food, Cea Ocean Mineral Superfood is processed and bottled in food grade polyethylene plastic because it is claimed to be more inert and more readily recycled than glass.
